List of Available College Scholarships
Our College Scholarship Program continues to grow each year. We are proud to be the largest provider of college scholarships for Jewish students in Texas and yet can use our knowledge to create scholarships for larger demographics as well. While most of these scholarships allow students in the DFW area to receive funding and recognition for their academic excellence, we now have many funds that can award students from around the county.
At present, we are in the process of reviewing applicants for our spring reception which will be held on June 13 at the Aaron Family JCC. For the first time ever there are more than 70 scholarship awards that we hope to grant. While many of these funds have been around for close to 40 years, we have some new scholarship funds. The first is on a national level for a female business or entrepreneur student - the GJ Hecht Scholarship for Empowered Women to Make a Difference on the Planet. Another new one, the Menaker Family Scholarship Fund was created for graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in the field of Social Service, Public Health Administration, or a field that would help the student expand their career for the greater good of the community at any university in the United States. The Michaels Family Scholarship for Indigenous Students Fund was set up to reward the academic achievements of Native American and Indigenous students from Texas and Oklahoma. Lastly the Joan and Bernard White Jewish Future Fund is to help local Dallas students by promoting Jewish life through Jewish education, programs in Israel, March of the Living, and Jewish summer camps.
In addition, changes were made to two funds established a few years ago, to go to any student who will take a Holocaust education class in college. The Gregory Jacobs Scholarship Fund shows preference to local students taking a class on the Holocaust while the Andrew S. Jacobs Scholarship Fund is for students from anywhere in the United States. We are fortunate to have such creative and passionate donors who care for students’ future. Look forward to seeing you all June 13th for the scholarship reception. RSVP
Below are the many scholarships available. The application form will ask questions to determine which scholarships a student qualifies for so that students need to submit only one application.
