2021 Winter Storms Response

Posted by michael

Given the unprecedented weather conditions and their resulting effects, the Foundation is providing support to those affected.

Within days of millions losing power and water, Chaim Goldfeder, owner of Kosher Palate, offered free hot kosher meals at two locations for anyone in need. To ensure he was able to continue this generous offering, the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas made the swift decision to fund the next 48 hours of dinners.

As of Feb. 17, with Federation/Foundation funding in tow, Kosher Palate was on target to distribute 1,000 meals through the shul distribution centers. With his own fundraising dollars, Chaim now plans to provide meals, including prepackaged Family Packs for Shabbat, to people through Friday, February 19.

We must continue working to provide unmet needs in the community as we rebuild just as Chaim Goldfeder is continuing to feed more neighbors.

The Foundation has established a new fund to harness community support and continue funding services like Kosher Palate’s food distribution.

The Natural Disaster Emergency Response Fund of the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation will provide emergency aid to nonprofit organizations that are providing vital and urgent assistance to affected communities and families.

With many still suffering even after the power returns – burst pipes, plumbing issues, and more – the cold temperatures remain and so does community need.

If you are able, please consider visiting our Donate page to contribute to the Natural Disaster Emergency Response Fund. Together, we can help more in need.
