The Sylvan T. Baer Foundation Application Process 2023

Please note two changes this year! First, the application process is hosted on this page, rather than on the Bank of America site. Each agency will download the form, fill it out and submit it via email. All instructions can be found below. Second, there is now one phase to the application process, rather than two.

IMPORTANT: Bank of America introduced a one-year skip cycle so awarded agencies have to sit a year out and cannot re-apply the following year. The reason for this skip cycle is twofold. There is a limited amount of grant dollars available each year and there is a growing number of organizations that serve the North Texas Jewish community.

In addition to the application form, each agency should submit three supporting documents:

  • IRS Letter of Determination, or supporting exempt-status documentation
  •  One-page operating budget summary (if available)
  • Audited financials (within the last three years)

About the Sylvan T. Baer Foundation

The Sylvan T. Baer Foundation was established in 1965 by Mr. Baer in honor of his parents, Jacob and Helen Baer, to assist needy and deserving Jews in the Dallas community.  Bank of America, N.A. is proud to serve as trustee of this charitable foundation and as steward of these charitable funds.  The Dallas Jewish Community Foundation works, on behalf of Bank of America, to identify and recommend qualified Jewish organizations, such as synagogues, day schools and other Jewish organizations. Together, we will award meaningful grants to our community, in keeping with Mr. Baer’s philanthropic mission. The Sylvan T. Baer Foundation has awarded more than $7 million in support of the North Texas Jewish Community.
