Sylvan T. Baer Foundation 2021

Sylvan T. Baer Foundation Accepting Applications for 2021 Cycle

The DJCF spends a lot of time and energy helping families and individuals create legacies. The amount varies but the mission is the same: take care of our nonprofit agencies in perpetuity, thereby taking care of the community around us. This is our primary focus - grow philanthropy that will not only be purposeful now but for generations to come. Therefore the DJCF is honored to be the expert consultant to Bank of America, N.A. (BoA) on a foundation that they own. A foundation that has providing a wealth of good to our Jewish community.

Since 1965, the Sylvan T. Baer Foundation has been driven by a simple, yet powerful, mission: to assist needy and deserving Jews. Fast forward more than half-a-century later and the Foundation has awarded over $7 million in honor of Sylvan T. Baer’s parents, Jacob and Helen Baer. This year, the Foundation intends to grow that generous total by awarding grants to Jewish organizations of religious, scientific, literary, medical, educational, or other charitable purposes in North Texas.

Bank of America, N.A. (BoA) uses a request for proposal process for this application. BoA has introduced a one-year skip cycle so qualified agencies awarded have to sit a year out and cannot re-apply for 2 years. Qualified agencies that did not receive a grant in 2020 can apply this year. The reason is twofold. There is a limited amount of grant dollars available each year and there is a growing number of organizations that serve the North Texas Jewish community. Your institution must be a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable Jewish organization located in Dallas, Denton or Collin Counties and in operation for at least three years to be eligible. The grant award is anticipated to be shared amongst several nonprofits.
