On Monday October 23, 2006, the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation (DJCF) honored donors who have made bequest and endowment commitments to keep our community vibrant for many years to come. Dallas City Councilman Mitchell Rasansky spoke about Dallas’ future plans, including the upcoming bond issues.  Greg Young, a senior portfolio manager with Bernstein Global Wealth management, gave an economic forecast.  Both held the attention of over 100 in attendance that had made plans for endowment giving in Dallas’ future.

Peggy Tobolowsky, chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation, commented how appropriate it was that the event was being held in Pollman Hall at Akiba-Yavneh’s Schultz-Rosenberg campus. Both Akiba Academy and Yavneh Academy are wonderful examples of philanthropy at work in Dallas. Many of the honorees present were instrumental in its establishment.

DJCF Development officer Marna Edenson spearheaded the event.  Stephen A. Waldman, past chairperson of the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation and a managing partner for Waldman Bros., was the master of ceremonies. Steve and wife Jackie Waldman are active philanthropists in Dallas. David Agronin, executive Director of the Foundation, offered closing remarks.
