The Sylvan T. Baer Fund was established and funded in the 1970’s by Sylvan T. Baer through a bequest in his will. This fund has distributed over five million dollars since 1988 to local Jewish agencies.
The purpose of the fund is to assist Jews in need in areas of human service and Jewish education. The fund continues to grow and generate income which is used to support the organizations forever.
Each year, Dallas Jewish Community Foundation professionals and volunteers present checks from the Sylvan T. Baer Fund to worthy Jewish organizations in support of those in our community needing assistance. In all, Foundation volunteers and professionals will pay 19 calls during February and March to present Baer Fund checks.
You can assist causes that you care about, just as Sylvan T. Baer did, through a codicil in your will. If you don’t have a will, please do not assume that such an action is “tempting fate.” Try entering “dying intestate” into your favorite search engine, and see what you learn about misconceptions you may have had.
You, like Sylvan T. Baer, have the opportunity to add to endowments that support your favorite organizations far into the future. For more information, speak to the Foundation professionals at (214) 615-9351 or email us: info@djcf.org, and we also urge you to contact your professional advisor.
